The central purpose and role of the NATIONAL INDEPENDENT MEDICAL AID SOCIETY is defined as follows:

• NIMAS exists to be a leader in providing quality, cost-effective healthcare.
• NIMAS has built a reputation for itself in this role, establishing itself at the industrial and commercial heart of South Africa as a sound medical aid scheme.
• NIMAS' mission is to build on this foundation in a way that takes account of its responsibility within South Africa today in healthcare funding.
