Acute Medication Exclusion List
Products contained on the Acute Medication Exclusion List will not be reimbursed from the acute medication benefit for one of the following reasons:
- Specific clinical criteria are required to be met before funding will be approved from the chronic medication benefit. Applications for these medications should be submitted with the specified clinical information (as indicated) to the NIMAS Medicine Risk Management Department for pre-authorisation.
- Based on a review of associated clinical information, the cost of these products is too high compared with the associated benefit.
- Based on a review of associated clinical information, these products are considered to be inappropriate for routine use in managing a specific condition.
- Motivation* indicates that the product may be considered for reimbursement from the chronic medication benefit upon motivation, if the requested diagnosis is covered within the Society's schedule of benefits.
