What do you know about circumcision?

The National Department of Health recognises medical male circumcision as an important HIV-prevention method and a risk-reduction intervention in addressing the AIDS epidemic in South Africa. In support of the Department's goals and objectives, Transmed Medical Fund has implemented an ongoing circumcision awareness campaign.

Circumcision is a simple, surgical procedure performed on males whereby the foreskin of the penis is removed. The procedure can be performed on infant males (ideally) and adult males for medical, cultural or religious reasons. An adult male (or the parent/guardian of a male minor) may also make a personal decision to have a circumcision. This is known as voluntary medical male circumcision.

Note that this procedure is covered by the Fund's preventative benefit and will not come from your savings.
